Information we collect

When you request a quote, we collect the moving details you provide: your origin and destination country, city, postcode and, optionally, house number; your preferred moving date and date flexibility; property type; which services you're interested in (packing, unpacking, disassembly, assembly, storage, and special items such as a piano, artwork or antiques); and any free-text details you add. We also collect your name, email address, phone number and any message you write.

When you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, optional phone number and your message.

We automatically collect some technical data needed to operate the site securely: your IP address (used for spam and abuse prevention and rate limiting), a session cookie that protects the forms against cross-site request forgery, and — where you arrive via a marketing link — the page you landed on, the referring site, and any UTM campaign parameters in the URL, so we can see which channel a genuine enquiry came from.

How we use your information

We use the information you submit to prepare and respond to your quote request, to answer questions sent through the contact form, and — once a move is booked — to coordinate the services you've asked for. This processing is necessary to take steps you request before entering into a contract, and to perform that contract once agreed (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).

We use your IP address and submission timing to detect and block spam and abusive submissions, and to prevent the same enquiry being submitted repeatedly by mistake. This is based on our legitimate interest in keeping the site and our inbox usable (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

Where an analytics or marketing tool is active on the site (see our Cookie Policy for the current status), any related processing is based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Data sharing

We don't sell your personal data. We may share the details necessary to arrange your move with third parties directly involved in fulfilling it — for example a carrier, customs agent, or storage partner on your specific route — limited to what's needed for that purpose. We also use ordinary service providers to run the site and business, such as our email delivery and website hosting provider, who process data on our behalf under their own data processing terms.

Data retention

Once your move is completed, we delete your data. If your enquiry doesn't turn into a booking, we delete it within around 3 months. Deletion is currently carried out by our team as an operational process rather than an automated one, so exact timing can vary slightly around those points — but data is not kept indefinitely, and it is not reused for any purpose beyond what's described in this policy while it's retained. Records we're required to keep for longer under tax or accounting law (such as invoices for completed bookings) are kept only for as long as that legal obligation requires.

Your rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have it deleted, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to receive your data in a portable format. To exercise any of these, email us at info@globalmovingexperts.com. If you're not satisfied with how we've handled a request, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

Children

This website and our services are intended for adults arranging a house move, not for children, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from children.

We may update this policy as the site or our data practices change. The "last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
