Italy's historic city centres — Rome, Florence and Venice among them — often have restricted vehicle access, which is one of the most important practical details we confirm before planning delivery.

Milan in particular draws a steady flow of corporate relocations given its role as Italy's financial and fashion capital, while Tuscany and coastal regions further south attract more lifestyle-driven household moves. Both are common for us, but they involve quite different planning priorities — schedule certainty for corporate moves, flexibility and access planning for rural lifestyle relocations.

Italy's well-developed road network means most of the country is reachable within a similar overall transit window from northern Europe, even though the driving distance to, say, Sicily is considerably further than to Turin. Where the real difference shows up is in the final delivery stretch — a modern Milan apartment with underground parking is a very different delivery than a hillside farmhouse reached by a single-lane gravel road.

Moving options

Groupage runs regularly to Milan, Rome and other major cities; more rural destinations can still use groupage with a slightly wider collection or delivery window. Dedicated transport suits fixed dates or larger household volumes. Corporate relocations into Milan's financial sector generally favour dedicated transport for schedule certainty, while lifestyle moves to rural Tuscany or the coast more often have the flexibility to benefit from groupage.

Packing services

We pack furniture, artwork and fragile items for secure road transport, and plan disassembly where narrow historic doorways or stairwells require it. Tuscan farmhouse and villa moves sometimes include larger or antique furniture that needs specific handling, which we plan for once we know your inventory.

Storage

If timing between your old and new address does not align, we can store your goods until your Italian property is ready. This is common for renovation projects in rural properties, where the moving date and the property's actual readiness do not always match up.

Transit considerations

Limited Traffic Zones (ZTL) in cities such as Rome, Florence and Milan restrict vehicle access at certain times; we plan around these restrictions and arrange permits or shuttle vehicles where needed. Rural Tuscan and coastal properties present a different challenge — narrow country roads and long private driveways — which we confirm during planning rather than assuming a standard delivery vehicle will manage without issue.

Cost factors

Volume, transport type, packing needs, and access — including any ZTL restrictions — are the main cost factors for a move to Italy. A move to a well-connected northern city and a move to a rural southern property can carry different cost profiles even over similar distances, mainly because of access and delivery time. Antique or valuable furniture common in villa and farmhouse relocations can also add packing time, which is worth flagging when requesting a quote.
